AMG silicon is a widely known producer of silicon metal and Microsilica. Silicon metal is a key raw material for the solar value chain, silicones and aluminum alloys. Microsilica serves the refractory and construction industry for high temperature products and high density concrete. AMG silicon operates more than 75 years in the field of Ferroalloys.
Located in lower Bavaria in southeast Germany AMG silicon operates four submerged arc furnaces, where quartz is transferred to silicon metal with the help of carbon as reductant. Close distances to quartz sources and key silicon metal consumers are of major importance for the location.
AMG silicon has developed his own furnace and casting technology. Silicon metal can be produced from regular to very special low iron grades. Microsilica is a by-product collected from the furnace off-gases. With the use of special raw material mixes the quality of the Microsilica is unique among competitors.
