AMG Antimony SICA (Société Industrielle et Chimique de l’Aisne) is based in Chauny (Aisne, France), approximately 150 km northeast of Paris. SICA is the leading European producer of antimony trioxide.
Our company was established in 1925 as tin oxide, antimony trioxide and enamels manufacturer under the name of Migeot Frères.
Antimony, represented by the symbol Sb (derived from the Latin word Stibium), has been known since ancient times. It is mainly found underground in its sulphide form called Stibnite (Sb2S3). In its metallic form, it is used for the manufacture of lead batteries. The main compound made with metallic antimony is antimony trioxide (ATO or Sb2O3) which is used as a flame retardant additive in the plastics industry (cables, tubes, technical textiles, floor and wall coverings, wallpaper, etc.).
